Introducing the newest Transit Ekko upgrade, built by yours truly (FVG)!!
We have made the L-bench conversion kit to add more seating space in your Transit Ekko galley area. This full upgrade can be installed by us, or it comes in a super easy package for the DIY-er! This conversion will also allow you to add extra electrical upgrades such as a 3rd or even 4th battery add on.
Installation notes:
Seatbelts are not retained out of the box. You are more than welcome to adapt and use them, but we do not test, design, account for, or suggest that seatbelts would be safe in an impact in this use case.
Two more Lithionics GTX320 batteries can be installed. Requires additional parts and pieces, and we do not recommend a DIY installation due to some complexities.
Direct replacement with almost no modifications to a Gen 1 Ekko (early model, gulper under dinette chair).
If you have an inverter under your seat, this modification will leave a small strip of channeled floor from where the inverter was mounted. We purposefully made the depth more shallow due to not needing the dead space behind the seats like the factory, thus freeing up leg and living space for the driver side bench inhabitant. Because of this you will need to make a small strip to fill that spot and use a rug to cover it.
For Ekkos with a circuit breaker and inverter switch on the inside, you will move it to under the dinette seat and mount as shown in the gallery. You will need to make an aluminum or wood piece to support that hanging span as we did.
We also include a heater hose coupler and a length of heater hose to reach the location near the aisle where we have it.
The inverter will be mounted directly to the L bench. We omitted mounting holes due to the huge number of installed components, and we need to make sure there is space. This is also a good time to upgrade to a Victron Multiplus 3000 in that area. Previously, due to length restrictions, you could not do it.
You can assemble it outside the vehicle and carry it inside with a friend to help!

Bench is made in the USA of aluminum and then powdercoated black. Cushions are not included.
